Looking for a group that has it all together? This isn't the place. The Downtown Church is a collection of broken, undeserving, imperfect people. We don't have all the answers. But we know the One who does.
Each person in our city has a story. We're no different. But our stories have intersected with Jesus. That changed everything. And that's allowed us to experience the hope, peace, and joy found only in Him. We want to share that with our city.
God loves people, even created them in His image. They're the soul of our city. Why did God do all this? So people could know Him, glorify Him, and find joy in Him.
Joy is tricky. Try and find joy in some earthly pleasure and it evades. The payoff isn't joy, it's destruction. No matter how hard we try, joy isn't found apart from Jesus. Our sin separates us from God, from the joy He offers. Each of our stories need a life-saving twist.
That came when God sent Jesus, His only son, to die on a cross for our sin. Jesus was the lifeline God threw man, so man could once again enjoy a relationship with God, and experience forgiveness, peace, and new life.
God accepts you as you are, but He doesn't want you to stay that way. No one is too dirty, too distant, too lost.
Each of us is left with a choice. Will we respond to His gift of life, trust Jesus, and let our story intersect with His? Or will we reject Him? There is no middle ground.
God offers joy. He offers transformation. He offers hope. You'll find that in the stories of each person at The Downtown Church. That's why we're in the city.
